StudentLoanJustice.Org research has uncovered highly
unusual lobbying activities regarding a political action committee called
"The Making Business Excel Political Action Committee".
This political action committee is led by Danielle Enzi
(Its Treasurer). Mrs. Enzi's FATHER IN LAW, Michael, is a U.S. Senator,
and Chairman of the Senate Education Committee (Health Education Labor
and Pensions).
According to Fecinfo.com, as of October 14th, 2006, this
political action committee has received (In this election cycles) a
total of $504,592, but has only paid out about $100,000. $121,000
of it's operating expenses went to a firm called "Enzi Strategies,
LLC". Other expenses include chartered jets and thousand
dollar lunches.
OF THE 20 HIGHEST INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS GIVEN TO THIS
PAC, 13 CAME FROM EXECUTIVES OF SALLIE MAE, NELNET, EDUCATION LOBBYISTS,
OR COLLEGES. THIS INCLUDES DONATIONS FROM THE CHAIRMAN, CEO, AND SEVERAL
VP'S OF SALLIE MAE.
52 OF THE 134 INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS CAME FROM EXECUTIVES
OF SALLIE MAE, NELNET, THEIR LOBBYISTS, OR OTHER EDUCATIONAL RELATED
PERSONS.
