I'm glad to report that we're now one-third of the way completed with our fundraiser. If everyone reading this pitched something in, we'd be totally done by the end of today. Will you please help? Please make this easier on me- The class action lawsuit was filed last week. I strongly urge you to read it. CNBC, Politico, and LAW360 have reported on it so far but I expect much more coverage going forward. Now is a good time to sign up for it if you saw your credit score tank this year. See yesterday's Livestream. The class action lawsuit for student loan borrowers will be hard-launching tomorrow. If your credit score suffered damage this year because of your student loans, if your loans were thrown into default, or if you were unable to make contact with your servicers this year due to overloaded phone lines, dropped calls, etc, you definitely want to sign up at their website, and tell them your story! We can now publicly share this as widely as possible, and I hope that you will. To that end, today's action:
Please can we make this coming week the strongest ever?! Strength in Numbers! -Alan Ladies and Gentlemen:
Feel free to share this publicly. Retweet this. Dr. Wayne Johnson, the former Chief Operating Officer of the federal student loan program, has launched a class action lawsuit against the Department of Education and the Credit Reporting Agencies. http://www.studentloanlegalaction.org/ This case will represent student loan borrowers who saw their credit scores drop because of their student loans over this year. The Supreme Court ruled last year that federal agencies who run lending programs- and their contractors- can no longer claim sovereign immunity for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). In other words, they can be sued in court. If your credit score dropped this year because of your student loans (particularly if you experienced difficulties in contacting them due to long hold times, dropped calls, etc), then you should contact them now: http://studentloanlegalaction.org This suit seeks damages of $100k/borrower, and also seeks the return of bankruptcy rights as a remedy. I estimate that 5-10 million people will have good cause to join this lawsuit. Perhaps more. This case opens a new door of redress for student loan borrowers. I strongly encourage you to go to the website, watch the video, and sign up. You can see more about Dr. Johnson in this seminal interview with Tucker Carlson in 2019. Best- Alan ps. Please chip-into our Gofundme if you can! Ladies and Gentlemen:
Our fundraiser is limping along at 31% right now, and we got only 1 donation in yesterday. Yikes. We really need your help with this. Will you please step up? https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-alan-collinges-fight-for-student-loan-justice I truly hope that even a small fraction of our "members" will pitch-in. When they do we'll have this fundraiser finished quickly. Re-upping your past support/doing a monthly recurring donations would, of course, be exceptionally helpful- The student loan propaganda machine has been turned up to 12 over the past week, artificially pumping up the story about the Department of Education agreeing to cancel loans through various IDR programs. Here is a funny tale from the inside about that. Please don't let yourself be gaslit. This is the biggest non-story we have seen this year. My hope is that the class action lawsuit that we are about to go public with will disrupt the propaganda. If your credit score took a hit this year, please contact them and tell them your story. Besides monetary damages ($100k/borrowers), the lawsuit seeks relief in the form of returning bankruptcy rights to the loans. It will be big, but they need enough people to respond early to give them the confidence to go forward, so... Today's action: Let's make today strong! Alan |
