They finally acknowledged that the SAVE Plan lawsuit encompasses not just the SAVE Plan, but ALL of the Income Driven Repayment Plans created by the Department of Education. So this is the Income Contingent Repayment, Pay As You Earn, Revised PAYE, and of course the SAVE Plan. The "feature" of loan cancellation is "enjoined", meaning PROHIBITED, pending the outcome of the lawsuit. For the Income Based Repayment plan (IBR), The Department will certainly disqualify the vast majority of people trying for it out of the program. So no matter which repayment plan you're in, you can forget about getting your loans cancelled for the foreseeable future. We tried to warn people. I hope that you will finally now see the real battle that we're in, and that getting the leverage of bankruptcy rights returned to the loans is the ONLY thing worth fighting for. Although around 100,000 of our members got their student loans cancelled in 2024, It did not happen the right way and more people now hold student loan debt- and will never be able to repay- than at any time in our history.
