We do it the hard way, but it's the only way this problem will be solved. We are really struggling right now, despite our recent achievements. We are 91% completed on our Gofundme. While we hoped to have this done in 1 month, it's looking like it will have taken 1 year when we finally get it knocked out. Will you please help? We are compiling the email addresses of every Chief of Staff of every elected official in both the House and the Senate. Will you please commit to sending them a heartfelt email calling for the return of bankruptcy protections to the loans? I hope you all realize that whatever you want to see happen with your loans, that can/will happen when we get the LEVERAGE of bankruptcy rights returned. WITHOUT ANYONE HAVING TO FILE. Congress is on recess this month. They are back home. This is the month for us to push them hard...particularly republicans as they get into gear for the upcoming mid-terms. The Secretary of Education sent a suspiciously weak letter to the colleges Monday. It was supposed to be her "throwing down the Gauntlet", but really read like something the colleges could have written themselves. Turns out, the letter WAS DRAFTED by at least 4 colleges Presidents. They are all in on it. Fake fights like these are what allow this loan scam to continue. We are sending STRONG LETTERS. We're asking everyone to send an email backing up this one that we sent over the weekend to Dick Durbin's Chief of Staff Will you please? He owes us. This one is very important. Will you also send an email like this one to the Pr.esident of Harvard University, Alan Garber? We sent him this letter (both email and hard copy) in April with a 3 month confidentiality clause. That three months is now expired and he has done nothing. So we need to hit him hard. These college Presidents need to be pushed. Very hard. They are the key players whose moral failing on this issue is most blatant. These are supposed to be good people with a mission to serve their communities. They are doing the opposite by ruining their communities in debt. This one is maybe even more important than the letter to Durbin. We simply have to fight, folks. No one in Washington is going to fight for us. We- each of us- have to fight this battle, which is your battle. These actions are the most efficient, effective use of your time for fighting for student loan justice. Please do you part.
