Correct-- He is a cosponsor. Currently, IBR (Income based repayment) plans limit your wage garnishment to something like 10 or 15% of discretionary income -- that is, income above an arbitrary poverty line threshold -- and I'm on it and pay 10% of zero which is ZERO. However, Cathy, as Alan often tells us, so I shall repeat: ONLY with the threat of Bankruptcy defense back in borrowers' hands will we get fair treatment. The abysmal 98 or 99% fail/ reject rate of PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) proves my point! GORDON WAYNE WATTS IN FLORIDA

I called both CA senators and spoke with their staff. This is an important bill to pass so that there’s a possibility of reprieve from ever-growing student loan debt. It’s the only bill 💵 I pay monthly but it grows every year, even at 20% of my earnings!

If GOP Republican Senators, ask them to join Republican Senators Josh Hawley (R-MO) and John Cornyn (R-TX), and if Democrat, tell them to defend helpless students. In either case, tell them that the US CONSTITUTION'S UNIFORMITY CLAUSE requires bankruptcy to be uniform, and this bill S.2598 helps repair this flaw. Also, tell them that all other options are politically difficult or imp, and that since all other loans have bankruptcy, it's only fair students do too. Also, without bankruptcy to make the Dept of Ed reluctant to lend insane amounts, both taxpayers and students. If all else fails, have them contact Alan Collinge at STUDENT LOAN JUSTICE dot org , or myself , Gordon Wayne Watts in Florida.

I have three adult children who are strapped with over $100,000 in student loan debt. They are hesitant to have families because of this. We need to support good citizens by working with them to live good lives. Cancel student loan debt!!
