We just published a report showing that most people with student loans identify, politically, as either republican or independent. It is really important that we get this research out there. Republicans, who should be on our side, but typically aren't, really need to know this. To that end: Please also share this with a few conservative politicians, influencers, or others who you think should be on our side. Today's action: I'm very glad to report that yesterday, the Secretary of Education re-affirmed their commitment to "working to change our policies so that bankruptcy is an option for those struggling with student debt." He has told the Justice Department to put pending cases on hold upon request. While this obviously isn't victory for us, it bodes extremely well. Interestingly, not one news organization has reported this as of now. What we are doing is working folks. This started with us, years ago. I hope you are pleased, but I really hope you will re-commit yourself to doing our daily actions, every day, at a minimum. We need you right now, the country needs you. Tens of millions who will follow in our footsteps need you. We are the pioneers. See last night's livestream. Keep going folks. Our opposition has sent a letter to the President telling him to turn the lending system back on. Ironically, these organizations all claim to be fighting for "smaller government". Today we are hitting the Undersecretary of Education James Kvaal. James has said they are revisiting how they handle bankruptcy claims for federal student loan borrowers, yet the Department and its contractors (ECMC most notably) continue to oppose borrowers in court, like a 77-year old borrower most recently.
