Will you please step up on this? We're also trying really hard to get local media to report on this research. If we can get EVEN ONE Governor of these states to stand up, and demand that the President cancel federally owned loans, and return bankruptcy to the rest, it will change the entire game for us. Before you start your weekend, we're asking you to do two things: 1. Retweet this. Also like us on twitter and "quote tweet" it to a couple of news organizations in Virginia, or nationally. We are killing it in the media, with much more to come. We're doing interviews daily. We're in good contact with several governors across the country. The petition is now well over a million signatures and growing. Our state chapters are growing and getting active. Don't be put off by how the media is reporting on Biden and loan cancellation right now. The financial media is trying very hard to kill loan cancellation, and it is their intention to demotivate and discourage us. Don't fall for it. Don't give them the pleasure. WE GOT THIS!! The reality that this lending system is finished has not changed, and will not change! Biden is also still a politician who has come a LONG WAYS from a year ago, and will absolutely come further still. We also have bankruptcy legislation coming...and I am more than cautiously optimistic that it will pass this session...with republican support, even. With bankruptcy returned, the widespread, perhaps full cancellation of all federal loans is assured. Think about that! Developing...We are starting to actively plan a nationwide student loan destruction thing. So this will be virtual. The idea is that everyone destroys their student loans in creative ways, and we'll throw the videos up everywhere! Let us know what you think about this. Ok folks. We're hitting it hard this weekend. First, I have to ask you all to please re-up your support at this time, or make a first time donation: http://www.studentloanjustice.org/donate.html I hate to lead with this, but have to. We are needing to get 40 people to donate $25, or 20 people to donate $50 by the end of the month. So far, 4 people have stepped up. Please make this fundraising easier on us! Two important actions today: 1. Re-tweet this. 2. Write to the White House today. Here is what I am saying. Say something similar! Mr. President, Tens of Millions of people voted for you in the expectation that you were going to cancel federal student loans by executive order, and return bankruptcy protections to ALL student loans. It appears that you are blatantly going back on your word on both fronts. The minimum that I ask that you do, right now, is issue an executive order calling on the Department of Education and its contractors (like ECMC) to stop opposing student loan borrowers in bankruptcy court. This is the minimum you should do to demonstrate at least a minimum amount of good faith. This problem is not going away. You would do well to recognize this catastrophically failed lending system for what it is, and cancel ALL federally owned loans, and replace the lending system with a more sane, rationally priced funding model for higher education. The lending system is finished by all rational metrics, Mr. President. Please inculcate that fact. =========================== Ok folks. Let's hit this hard. We are becoming an unstoppable force. Hitting the governors (and Senators) of the states where student loan debt exceeds the state budget is is so important. They don't know this. You need to inform them, so that they will fight for their state, and with us! I hope you are starting to see the wisdom in all of this, and will play along. Georgia is, by far, the worst state in the country (student loan debt is 169% of the state budget), so this one is particularly important... Do more than this. Forward it to Georgia news media. Contact the Governor directly through Facebook. Send it to churches, chambers of commerce, and others in the state who should care that the state is being wrecked by student loan debt. What else can you think of? We are getting great exposure in the media right now, both nationally and locally, but we need to make this week even stronger. Biden is backsliding on his campaign pledge to cancel student loans right now, and we step up, not fall back at this time...ALL OF US...INCLUDING YOU! Remember: Biden doesn't control the lending system....WE DO. Biden is a politician and we've pushed him a long ways in just the past year.
