9/21/2021 Tuesday Action: Rubio, DeSantis... Hey Everyone-
So Marco Rubio wrote a terrible OPED yesterday. Please have a look at it. Look at my comments below the article, and leave one of your own! This is where the battle is fought, folks. We need you. Also please retweet these to both Marco Rubio and Ron DeSantis (Governor of Florida). These guys should be on our side. I am actually hopeful that we'll be able to use this to get Rubio to cosponsor S. 2598, along with the two other republicans (John Cornyn and Josh Hawley) that we already have! Donations Needed! Folks, I HATE having to fund raise all the time, but it cannot be helped. Even to meet our bare obligations, I find myself having to constantly do fundraising appeals. We decided years ago to NOT take money from bad places, sell advertising, etc. This is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT TO KEEPING THIS GROUP ETHICALLY PURE. Currently, we need to raise $600 by the end of the month just to meet our barest expenses. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) has cosponsored the legislation, so that currently, there are literally more republicans sponsoring the bill than democrats. Thanks to Gordon in Florida, and everyone else who contacted Hawley's office. This bodes extremely well. We need to build upon this. I have to lead with a request for donations. Needing to raise $160 for a pending phone/internet expense. Will you please help? Knives Out: Yesterday it was reported that four congressmen sent the President a letter, asking him to NOT cancel loans by executive order! 3 of these people come from Georgia, North Carolina, and Ohio- some of the worst hit states in the country on student loan debt! If you live in any of these states- especially if you consider yourself to be a conservative- this should be extremely concerning to you. These men (all republican) are defending the worst big-government, college-enriching lending scam in US History, are screwing over millions of their constituents...and even their base...and we need to make them pay. Also, paste the link to the petition in at least ten places where people with student loans will see it. Pretty simple! Special Request for Action: Hitting the Governors. If we can get even one republican governor to stand up and call on the President to cancel student loans by executive order, the entire game changes for us. If you live in one of the states in the graphic, and have a republican governor, please try to get a meeting with the Governor, the Chief of Staff, or other staff. They need to know that student debt exceeds their entire state budget, and they need to join us in calling on the President to cancel the loans. Send them this article. Tell them you would like a meeting, and that you would like to bring in a representative from StudentLoanJustice.Org to brief them. If you get in an email exchange, you can CC us in.
