Excusing student debt will benefit the entire country. As working class folks, we will spend the money we save in short order as we won’t be able to sit on it for decade but will use it to stimulate the US economy.

The SAVE program is a joke. It is supposed to not increase balance with interest then tell me why my balance keeps going up because of interest. Frustrating differences between student.gov and Nelnet data too.

I went on the save program and my payments are now 453.00 a month. My entire student loan was supposed to be forgiven but only less than half has. We were just recently notified that we will eventually be laid off from.our jobs which is very stressful not knowing where to go next. I have no retirement nor savings due to all the inflation and increase with student loans

The money I'm putting towards student loans could be going towards rent and food in an economy that's making people homeless and malnourished

I still owe $35K as a parent borrower. Have made payments since 2001. I am 67 and retired. What's funny is that I worked as a civilian for the Federal Government for 32 years, and there is no public service program that applies to me as a retiree, Go fig.

BTW, almost forgot, I have paid much more than the loan was. Why does Uncle Sam need 5.5% interest?? Make these loans interest-free.

Fortunately, the loan is forgiven upon my death. But not planning on dying anytime soon, LOL.

I got an Associate's degree in Medical Assisting in 2007. I never could find a job in that field. I moved to a rural area and have been a Quality Technician for last 11 years. I can't afford to pay back any of it due to I'm a single mother and only make $30,000 a year if I'm lucky due to constant layoffs.

And get this -- my daughter, now 44, is a partner in a law firm in SoCal, and will not pay the loan off for me. Wow...

Unfortunately mine were sold of to private student loan companies. Been paying for years with no end in site. One year I paid 14k in interest alone

I am pretty sure that's what they did on my loan too!The craziest part of that is that they didn't do it until AFTER the Statue of Limitations was up in my state on Private Loans which is 5 years in my state as far as I can tell!!It IS ILLEGAL!!!!!

If European Countries can provide Free Education, I think we can forgive student loans. A lot of times these loans are the reason why people go to college elsewhere and don’t stay in their homeland or work 3-4 jobs to payoff something that will make them productive members of society.

I was paying even when I had no income to report. Over the years it’s been terrible dealing with the people who collects. They were nasty over the phone and sometimes threatening! I have paid and paid and my loans never never went down!

Hello I'm James Howard an Mason and Activist from Wilmington,DE. I was let go from my job because of a vindictive employee and now I'm even having trouble making loan and rental payments on time and unemployment has been giving me the runaround for almost a month. These last past few years has been hard on everyone so I believe that I speak for us all when I say that we need to come to some sort of agreement. I also never received my two grants that I was approved for,I was only stuck with the bill from the loan which isn't right because someone's stealing grant money and leaving others to suffer
