Remember: cancelling federal student loans and returning bankruptcy rights to all student loans really should be a republican issue. This will dramatically stimulate the economy- particularly in "Red States"- with no tax money needed, and nothing added to the national debt. There is absolutely no good reason that they should oppose this. More than half of everyone with "some college" are either republican or independent. We are their base! Do more than this. Give the petition a boost. Forward this article to your local media. Join your state chapter, and help get it going. Do anything you can think of to spread the word about the petition, and our argument. Do NOT be discouraged by media seeded by our opposition. This is precisely what they want. Do NOT give them the pleasure. This battle is so EASY TO WIN, when we all fight... We have many smart, creative people in this group now. When we all pitch in, we win our freedom from this nationally threatening debt. This will help the country hugely, including tens- or hundreds of millions of people who will follow in our footsteps. We are being particularly hard on Senator Blunt. He deserves it. He has been in Congress FOREVER, and also a university president. He has actively worked to make this problem happen. MAKE THESE PEOPLE FEEL IT...PARTICULARLY BLUNT. I hope that you all are pleased with all the media we've been getting lately, thanks in part to people out there contacting their local news stations, and also national. When they tell the President to cancel federal loans by executive order (and return bankruptcy to the rest), that is pretty much game over...we win! We are killing it in the media, with much more to come. We're doing interviews daily. We're in good contact with several governors across the country. The petition is now well over a million signatures and growing. Our state chapters are growing and getting active. Don't be put off by how the media is reporting on Biden and loan cancellation right now. The financial media is trying very hard to kill loan cancellation, and it is their intention to demotivate and discourage us. Don't fall for it. Don't give them the pleasure. WE GOT THIS!! The reality that this lending system is finished has not changed, and will not change! Biden is also still a politician who has come a LONG WAYS from a year ago, and will absolutely come further still. We also have bankruptcy legislation coming...and I am more than cautiously optimistic that it will pass this session...with republican support, even. With bankruptcy returned, the widespread, perhaps full cancellation of all federal loans is assured. Think about that! Developing...We are starting to actively plan a nationwide student loan destruction thing. So this will be virtual. First, I have to ask you all to please re-up your support at this time, or make a first time donation: http://www.studentloanjustice.org/donate.html I hate to lead with this, but have to. We are needing to get 40 people to donate $25, or 20 people to donate $50 by the end of the month. So far, 4 people have stepped up. Please make this fundraising easier on us! Two important actions today: 1. Re-tweet this. 2. Write to the White House today. Here is what I am saying. Say something similar! Mr. President, Tens of Millions of people voted for you in the expectation that you were going to cancel federal student loans by executive order, and return bankruptcy protections to ALL student loans. It appears that you are blatantly going back on your word on both fronts. The minimum that I ask that you do, right now, is issue an executive order calling on the Department of Education and its contractors (like ECMC) to stop opposing student loan borrowers in bankruptcy court. This is the minimum you should do to demonstrate at least a minimum amount of good faith. This problem is not going away. You would do well to recognize this catastrophically failed lending system for what it is, and cancel ALL federally owned loans, and replace the lending system with a more sane, rationally priced funding model for higher education. The lending system is finished by all rational metrics, Mr. President. Please inculcate that fact. =========================== Ok folks. Let's hit this hard. We are becoming an unstoppable force.
